We were at a dealership negotiating the price of our new car and it took SO long. Is this typical?
Yes, sometimes it is. It may be part of the car salesman's secret strategy. He may purposely take a long time in order to wear you out both physically and emotionally. Car salesmen know that, when you're tired and worn out, you're a much less effective negotiator and therefore you end up paying more for your car or truck. Obviously, that's exactly what the salesman wants since he works entirely on commission.
